Mission Description
Combat Air Support near Wangch’on. (On call CAS)

Be advised: Intelligence reports a large enemy offensive is in progress, probably with the intent to take Seoul.
Friendly forces in the area 4nm west of Wangch’on are advancing towards here and expect to make contact with DPRK forces. Ground commanders in area are brequesting air support starting at 09:31.

Gypsy2 Detailed debrief

Gypsy2 flight departed Kunsan at 09:17. Maintaining spread formation during the ingress. No hostile aircraft was detected. Approaching Waypoint Three which we contacted our FAC to let them know we were on station. We immediately got a mud NW of waypoint three. I cleared Gypse22 hot on Targets as I maintained air support. As Lt Broadway rolled in He immediately began taking fire and broke off to the west to extent. At that point I went AG and selected precision STP in the FCR uncaged my weapon and confirmed designated firecan. Now Angles 15 I launched the first bruiser at a range of 10nm. Breaking left to extend on heading 090 I watch to see if weapon had hit its target. Unfortunately it missed. Continuing the turn back into for another shot Lt Broadway called in hot on the firecan. At that point I pulled off and continued to maintain air support.

Maintaining Angles 20 I maintained air cover for Gypsy 22 as he continued to Search for GMT and engage them. Scan the area and requesting picture from Chalis1 all was clear. Turning West bound I pick up a single contacted at BullsEye 280/50 to which Chalis 1 declares as AN50. As it was no threat and the area was clear of hostile aircraft I informed 22 that I was beginning my run in from the west along a pre-designate track. Approaching area I began to spot movers advancing to the south. After confirming hostile I engaged multiple targets as now Lt Broadway call Dakota and began to provide air support. Once going Dakota we reformed and continued to waypoint four. With no air cover in the area and fuel not being a factor, we decided to set up a cap. Maintaining air cover within the area for the next 20 minutes and prior to reaching Bingo I called Gypsy flight to RTB.

The mission was a Partial Success with no losses to our package. However Gauntlet flight for some reason did not get airborne. The advancing DPRK forces have been confirmed retreating due to the efforts of the 55th fighter squadron.

Mission: Strike Wonsan Airbase

Intelligence reports the following squadrons are currently operating out of Wonsan Airbase, located 3 nm northeast of Wonsan: 50th Fighter Squadron (MiG-29A) --14% strength 2nd Fighter Squadron (MiG-23ML) --35% strength Air command would like to damage or destroy their facilities in order to reduce their sortie rate. Intelligence reports the highest impact targets are:

Threat Analysis: DPRK MiG-23ML CAP aircraft are expected to be operating near target area. Known or suspected enemy air defenses along your flight path include: ZU-23 anti-aircraft guns 3 nm north of Wonsan ZU-23 anti-aircraft guns 1 nm west of Kosong Stinger Sqd missile launchers 3 nm northeast of Sunhang-ni Stinger Sqd missile launchers 3 nm northwest of Geojin.
